During Nurses Week (May 6-12), Centennial Medical Center nurses hosted a ‘giving back’ food drive, which raised more than $3,700 and collected more than 1 ton of canned and non-perishable food items for Second Harvest Food Bank.
“Given the current economic environment, our nurses did what they do best – selflessly care for others by dedicating their week of recognition to giving back to the community in a tangible and meaningful way,” said Catherine Duffy, RN, chief nursing officer for Centennial Medical Center. “Knowing the need for non-perishable goods is greater than ever in our local communities, we felt compelled to act.”
Supported by the American Nurses Association, National Nurses Week highlights nurses’ efforts toward health care improvement and raises awareness of the value of nursing to meet the health care needs of all our communities.
