NASHVILLE, Tenn. (January 1, 2014) – Braeden Cole Matthews, 7 lbs., 9 oz., and 20 ¼ inches long, was the first baby of the New Year born at TriStar Centennial Women’s & Children’s.
Proud parents Rachel and Todd Matthews of Franklin, Tenn. welcomed their first child, a healthy baby boy, at 3:36 AM on Jan. 1. “We can’t think of a better way to start the New Year,” said Rachel Matthews. “We were just sitting at home watching the ball drop and next thing we knew, he [Braeden] decided it was time to come.”
Women’s services staff presented the Matthews family with a New Year gift basket in honor of their special delivery.
“Bringing new life into the world is a miraculous thing and it’s such a privilege to be a part of that experience with our patients,” said Diana Moses, administrative director of nursing at TriStar Centennial Women’s & Children’s. “As a nurse, delivering the first baby of the New Year is one of those “stand out” moments. We are so thrilled for the Matthews family.”
