Physician to Discuss Laparoscopic Bariatric Procedures
Nashville, Tenn., (September 13, 2011) – A free community seminar about bariatric weight loss surgery will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at StoneCrest Medical Center Classroom.
Hugh Houston, M.D., bariatric surgeon with The Center for Treatment of Obesity at Centennial Medical Center, will discuss commonly-preformed surgical procedures including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch and revisional procedures. Bariatric surgery is designed for those with a body mass index equal to or greater than 40, or equal to or greater than 35 with serious co-morbidities, such as diabetes and/ or heart disease.
