What to Expect
When you arrive to The Sleep Disorders Center, you will check in with our receptionist. A short video will provide a visual overview of the sleep study before you move to your overnight room. The video also addresses treatment options if you test positive for obstructive sleep apnea.
An experienced member of our team will orient you to your private patient room and allow you to get comfortable. Our center offers a calm, quiet, serene environment for your study.
Once you are ready to turn in for the night, your sleep technologist will connect you to a monitoring device that will capture your heart beat and breathing patterns. This data will be used to compliment the video being captured from discrete cameras capturing your movements throughout the night.
When you wake up in the morning, a member of our team will greet you and answer any initial questions you may have about the study or your experience. You have a private rest room complete with a shower for your use before going home.
Your sleep study results will be sent directly to your physician or one of our sleep specialists.
Times
Patients are overnight guests in our center for the sleep study. From start to finish, a sleep study visit is typically 11 hours. Patients arrive at 8 pm and get ready for bed around 10 pm. The sleep study takes place throughout the night. Most patients are awake by 6 am and ready to go home by 7 am.*We make special arrangements for daytime studies to accommodate patients on shift work.
