Centennial Medical Center broke ground today on a six-story, 148,000 square foot medical office building located on 23rd Avenue between Murphy and Leslie Avenues.

The new medical office building will be constructed in the heart of Centennial’s campus, offering physicians and patients a convenient location with easy access to Centennial’s main tower and The Women’s Hospital at Centennial. This is also the first office building construction for Centennial in 10 years.

“We are very fortunate to be a part of a community that has such great faith in Centennial Medical Center – so much so that our beds are consistently full and so is our physician office space,” said Tom Herron, President and CEO of Centennial Medical Center. “This new building will not only provide more physician office space, but will also offer physicians and patients a convenient location with access to all of the services Centennial has to offer.”

The new building is just one of many improvement projects currently underway at Centennial as the campus expands to meet the growing demand for services. Last fall Centennial celebrated the grand opening of the newly-expanded Sarah Cannon Cancer Center, and is currently in the middle of a $143 million heart center expansion which will add 51 beds, enabling the medical center to consolidate its comprehensive heart care services in a new setting.

“This project is an important step forward for Centennial in meeting the needs of our physicians and the increasing demand for services in the patient community,” said Micki Slingerland, Chief Operating Officer for Centennial Medical Center. “We’re also please to announce that this building project will continue HCA and Centennial’s commitment to environmentally-friendly construction, as we are recycling 90 percent of the construction waste produced through ‘green’ waste removal methods.”
