Parthenon Pavilion at Centennial Medical Center – the oldest and largest private psychiatric facility in Middle Tennessee -- has appointed Psychiatrist Michael J. Murphy, M.D., M.P.H., as its medical director.

Dr. Murphy most recently served as the medical director for the Psychiatric Hospital at Vanderbilt. Dr. Murphy is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and the Harvard School of Public Health and is board certified in adult psychiatry.

“We are fortunate to have a psychiatrist of Dr. Murphy's skill and experience joining our staff,” said Anita Peterson, administrator for Parthenon Pavilion and TriStar Health System’s behavioral health services. “He will play an important role in maintaining the high standard of care for which Parthenon Pavilion is known.”

In addition, Dr. Murphy and fellow psychiatrist Dr. Robert A. Jack have formed Centennial Psychiatric Associates, LLC, a physician office located at 310 25th Ave. North, Suite 307 on Centennial Medical Center’s campus.

Dr. Jack is clinical director of geriatric services at Parthenon Pavilion. He has practiced in Nashville for over 20 years and was a member of Psychiatric Consultants, P.C. prior to joining Centennial Psychiatric Associates. Dr. Jack is board certified in adult and geriatric psychiatry. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon School of Medicine.
